If you do start to hear any noises coming from it, it is often a sign that there is sediment that is starting to build up inside your unit. You can flush out any sediment every few months to help extend the life of your water heater and avoid this issue. If you leave it, the water heater will eventually fail.
– Rusty Water: When you turn on the water, you don’t want to see orange, rusty water coming from the tap. This is a sign that there is corrosion in the pipes of your water heater. Sometimes, you can replace the rusty, old pipes, but you may have to replace the water heater as well.
– No Hot Water: If you have noticed that there is significantly less hot water without making any adjustments to your water heater, this is a sign that it is having a difficult time keeping up with the hot water demands of your home. You may want to start looking for replacements.
– Temperature Fluctuations: Another thing that you shouldn’t experience is water fluctuations. This is more commonly a problem in tankless water heaters but can be an issue in a traditional hot water heater as well. It’s a sign that there is a problem that needs to be addressed at the very least.
– Leaking Water: You shouldn’t see water leaking from the water heater anywhere. If you do, this means that your water heater has reached the end of the road. It is time to find a replacement at this point.
